Monday – Diversity In Culture

Diversity In Unity | Culture

This week we had Rob Dale, from Capital City Biker’s Church, speaking on diversity in culture. Let’s continue the discussion this week by looking at diversity in culture. If we, as the church, form culture, then what part of the body are you?

Romans 12:4-6 (ESV)
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, l are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them.

Different gifts require a unique application of grace.

It doesn’t matter what environment I find myself into, I see things through the lens of the gifts that God has given me. That means that I view the world through a teaching, knowledge, and leadership gift. It doesn’t matter where I am, or what I am doing, those are the gifts that fire off constantly.

What I have had to learn is two-sides of the same coin.

Just because I don’t “have” a certain gifting, doesn’t mean I can’t operate in that gift. For example, I don’t have the gift of hospitality, but that doesn’t give me an out from being welcoming to others. I believe it is essential to know your spiritual gifts, but not to be bound by them. I have known people who wouldn’t do anything unless it fit their gift box, and that is  self-serving.

The gifts are to be used to serve Jesus.
Following Jesus sometimes means doing whatever is necessary to get things done.

The other side of the coin is that no matter what I am doing, the gifts that are strongest will always  rise to the surface.

I best serve the body of Christ through teaching, knowledge, and leading.

  • What about you?
  • Do you know how you best serve Jesus?

    Hi
Just wanted to respond that from the first song to the closing prayer, the service was incredible. Rob Dale did a brilliant job laying the foundation for the series. Deborah was AMAZING.
