Monday – God Is… Unity

Monday – God Is… Unity

God Is… | Unity

Here is a big idea. When we pray usually we talking to God about our lives, and that is as it should be. It is something that He desires that we do…but what if you could answer His prayer?

In John 17:11 Jesus prayed, “Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.” I think it is extraordinary that we can be the answer to His prayer.

Think about it for a moment.

God is…unity.

One God.
One Body.
One in Marriage.
One Spirit.
One Baptism.

Satan is…

Division.
Disunity.
Divorce.
Diabolical.

The question that I want us to wrestle with, both on an individual and church wide level is, in our lives, what do we most often create?

Unity or division?

Perhaps unity isn’t something that we need to pray for on such a consistent basis. Perhaps it is something that we are called to practice. Just imagine for a moment if the target wasn’t always whether or not we were right, but whether or not we were unified.

I am realistic enough to know that we can’t have unity 100% of the time, no matter how lofty a dream it is. When you look at your life, friendships, marriages or church behaviour and attitudes where are you at? All of us need to examine ourselves if determine if we are fostering unity or division. If it is tilted in the division side, then may I suggest we not only pray, but surrender to God, allow Him to work in such a way that we can too be the answer to His prayer?

AGREED! Praying with childlike faith to be one in our relationships is so honouring to God! I’ve seen it work first hand and it’s a beautiful thing :-) AND surrender is a huge part of it….surrending your own “rights” and desires and trusting God to have your best interest at heart…as well, the best interest for others…..what a dream to have :-)
